Welcome Painters…
A few years back my mother-in-law offered me one of her floor lamps… I think they were prepping for a garage sale and she gave me 1st dibs. We had just moved here and with double our square footage, I was hungry for more lighting. I wish I had a before pic… but this was pre-blogging days, before I chronicled my every thought and project.
It looked very similar to this though…
Except the center of the stand was a creamy white. I’m not a brass-fan girl, so I painted away that brass. I put a coat of cheap flat black spray paint (under $1 at Lowes and Wal-Mart) and then my FAV color… Oil Rubbed Bronzed, aka ORB.
Today she resides in our family room and I love her. Just another example of how if you like the shape (bones) of an item, you will probably LOVE it if you just paint it!

Love the Lamp, Maryann! Okay, so I have to say… I kinda freaked out a bit. I have a similar colored wall with brown curtains and a cute green star hung between – just like yours. I had to do a double take 'cuz I thought it was my room. I'm doing a home tour and will post pictures up soon. Check it out – even my husband said it was sort of freaky!
Great job on the lamp – soooooo much better than the bright brass.
