Sand Frames…My Beach Scene

I adore the beach.  I’ve lived in Southern California all my life, so the beach has been a part of my life since I was little.  Summer vacation was filled with trips to the beach, especially since my parents home is only a few miles from the beach.

When we moved two years ago, we moved further from the beach… about an hour now.  So I decided to make the top of one of our storage area dedicated to “the Beach.”

I have photos of my kiddos at the beach, shells and even sand.

I made these sand frames.  I took Ikea’s basic wooden frame (I think they are under $1 in their bulk pack) and spread basic white glue all over them.  Then I sprinkled play sand on top.  I love the texture it gives the frames.

This cute bucket came from the dollar section at Target as did the shells.  I filled the base of the bucket with a waded up paper towel and then placed the shells on top… this is a great way to save $$ so you don’t have to fill the whole bucket.

These little blue frames came from Tuesday Morning a few years back.

The mini votive lanterns are from Target’s Dollar spot too.  I added some play sand from the sandbox, a few shells and a candle.

The ledge shelf I purchased at the Pottery Barn Outlet a few years ago… $6!

This is one of my favorite areas of our house… I love the beach and I love the smiles on my kid’s faces as they enjoy the sunshine, sand and water.
