I’m sorry but this post has nothing to do with paint or twine, frames, furniture or fabric… well, a little bit about fabric.
Maybe I should paraphrase this post by saying… “I’m BIG about customer service!!”
Maybe it’s because my first job in high school and for the next few years after, was working in retail. I expect companies to do their best to take care of their customers.
Last week I shared with you about my dead laptop (notebook). I had received it as a birthday gift at the end of March… a brand new laptop… it was wonderful… I loved it… and then it died! Just over TWO WEEKS after receiving the laptop it blue screened!
The buyer of the laptop checked to see if the store it was purchased at would exchange it, but they wouldn’t because it had been open.
I emailed and called the computer company… Acer… for help. We (me and the techies) tried to fix it, but the final outcome was that it’s a hardware issue. Now I’m no computer expert, but I’ve done nothing with the hardware. So this is what Acer is doing for me. I’m under warranty (wahoo), so I got to ship my computer to them… they will fix it and ship it back to me. My problem is why am I paying for anything? My new computer is a lemon, my life has been inconvenienced and I’m having to pay something? I can see that they need to make sure that I didn’t mess up my computer, but I think they should reimburse me for the shipping costs once they discovered it was their “lemon” issue. The people I talked to were very nice, but did I end the conversation feeling that they did all they could to make the situation the best they could – NO!
I did have a happy customer service experience this week though!
I recently ordered some new bedding for our master bedroom with some b-day money. I ordered it online from Target. My bedding came this week… happy day. When I opened the package the bedding was very wrinkled. I remembered when I was reading the reviews on Target’s website that someone had mentioned the wrinkling and gave a great suggestion on get out the wrinkles. So I hopped on the computer to refresh my memory. When I got to the page I realized that my new bedding is on sale this week! Like 35% off cheaper!! So the other night, before I went to bed, I emailed Target’s customer service to see it they would do a “price adjustment” for me.
The next morning when I checked my email I had 2 emails from Target… one saying they were doing the price adjustment & the second from the billing department showing my credit.
LOVE YOU TARGET!
There is power in good customer service. Will I buy another Acer computer? Not likely…
Will I order online at Target again?? Absolutely!
I promise… I will now return to my regularly scheduled antics!
Oh… and I promise to show you my new bedding soon too.

I'm glad that you posted this information. I will continue to shop with Target, and I will definitely NOT purchase an ACER computer! I hope they read this! Bad customer services can destroy a company. Sorry you're going through the frustration of dealing with a disappointing company!
i'm with you maryann, having worked in retail both as clerk and in mgmt., customer service is SO important.
so sorry that acer isn't satisfying your problem including the shipping. i'd suggest writing a letter if they don't and share your dissatisfaction.
i'm happy to say that i've had more pleasant experiences than not with customer service and i make sure as you did to brag a bit on them! word of mouth spreads quick!
looking forward to your regularly scheduled program, i mean post.

My hubby is a big customer service nut. He is right there with you. Glad to hear Target is getting better. They are horrible with bridal registry returns.
Yay for new bedding!
I'm a polite and courteous customer and so I expect great customer service in return. I recently had an annoying experience at my local hardware store with a clerk there, emailed the owner and apparently she's going to be apologizing to me the next time I shop there. I'm not sure why she couldn't email me her apology right away, seeing as they have my email address, but it felt good to stand up against shoddy customer service!
Poor customer service is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves.
ATT is one of the ones that ALWAYS ticks me off. We've been loyal, good customers for over 10 years & they treat us as if we're replaceable. Which, I guess to them we are.
When did it get that way?
We sell Acer computers at my work, and I will actually tell people not to buy them, lol! My customers are very loyal to me, so the last thing I want is someone to think that I will sell them junk just to make my sales for the day. Absolutely not!
Agree whole heartedly about Customer Service. It should be super important no matter what the service or the company. I was just having this same conversation with my brother yesterday.
I could get on a rant- contrasting and compare two recent CS issues…
but I won't, this is YOUR RANT…
LOL!
Glad things worked out with Target for ya…
Acer–tisk,tisk…shame on them!
Acer is actually one of the computer companys with better than average customer service. If you should be upset with anyones customer service it should be the store where it was purchased.
Good customer service is so hard to find these days, it's actually quite sad. I'm sorry your having such issues with your computer, but yay to cheaper bedding!
YES, YES, YES!! Im so glad to hear someone else is as much a stickler for customer service as me! My hubby calls me the customer service nazi. Ive actually heard him threaten c.s. people with putting me on the phone
I am big into customer service. I have called many companies just to say hey I went in your store today and they were amazing. Thanks.
I am with you about customer service. {Don't get me started on cell phone companies and how they are PROTECTED in any/every way and don't have to worry about customer service because of their industry.}
I JUST got my ACER computer on the 15th. I picked it out because the reviews were really good and it was actually a recommended buy on http://www.consumersearch.com . {I have the Aspire One} I HATE to hear this about your computer and I look forward to hearing how this all ends up. I agree with you though, you should not be paying for the shipping.
Please check my blog! I'm giving you a blog award!
I am right there with ya on the poor customer service issue! In fact, I just posted a rant earlier this week about a 2 1/2 month old Samsung washer that is shutting down in mid cycle and giving an error code. Can't return it to hhgregg where I bought it. Can't get it replaced by Samsung. And the authorized service center says they can't get parts. Really ticks me off! Once most companies have your money, it seems you are on your own and I think that is just SHAMEFUL!
Hope your computer problem is resolved as favorably as your Target experience.
Have to love Target! Sorry about your notebook! I'm in the same situation with a steamer that broke but I have to pay for shipping? I don't get it….hope your having a wonderful week!
Take care
Kristin
