I found these lights for FREE! About a year ago, while garage sale’ing one Saturday morn, I came across a FREE garage sale… yes, the guy was giving away everything! There was a LOT of junk, but I grabbed a lot of items that I knew just needed a little cleaning, sanding a paint. You can see some of the other items here.
So these are the brassy beauties (with pure sarcasm) before I decided to transform them… yes, they’ve been sitting in my garage for over a year!
I had my son clean them well… then a gave them a coat of flat black spray paint. If you’ve been around here awhile you know this is my primer of choice… cheap, under $1, flat spray paint from Lowes or Wal-Mart.
Then they got 2 coats of Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB)… pure bronze beauty in a bottle!
Here they are gracing the sides of our bed.
Pretty… Pretty…
Now I need to find some cute shades for them.
So what have you been painting?
Party Rules:
***This is a PAINT party… so pretty please, link-up only paint related projects. I HATE deleting!
***Please put my nifty POPP button in your blog post or a link back to this party in your post… that way others from your blog can check out all the paint projects too.
***In the URL line, insert your blog post url… not your general blog address.
***In the “NAME” line place the title of your post and your blog name (if you can fit both

wow- those lamps look amazing! i need to try that. i keep looking for ugly lamps to redo but have a hard time seeing past shiny brass. thanks for sharing!
They turned out so nice! I have the same identical lamps that have been on my "to do" list ever since I moved. And guess what? I plan to put them on each side of my bed too. One question. You didn't sand them at all to give them some tooth before applying your flat black primer? I always use Zinsler primer especially for slick surfaces like metal or laminate. You inspired me to put them at the top of my list. Thanks
those lamps look great! I have a painting project in progress, if I get finished tomorrow and I have time to blog I will link up then
TOO FUNNY!!!
I have these same exact lamps in my guest room!!!!
They were brass, but are an antique gold color, now.
I love the finish on yours, too!
Doncha love paint?
It covers a multitude of sins!
Hugs,
me
Joselyn – I didn't sand it at all, just primed it. The surface turned out fine. Sometimes I think sanding a metal surface can make it rough. Have fun with your transformation!
Hello sweet Maryann – thank you for hosting this fun party! And for allowing me to link up my freshly painted treasures I found at the Goodwill.
Love your black lamps! So fabulous.
Blessings,
Marie

Ooh, what a coincidence. I just linked up my brass light make-over. Yours looks great. Thanks for hosting!

Hey, I think I have those lamps! I'm going to look at them with new eyes now since your redo looks great. Thanks for your Power of Paint party, it is always so much fun!
You can't beat free! The transformation looks great!
Take care
Kristin
Those look so totally different! Ahhhhhhh, I love paint.
Wow! How cool is that! A "free" garage sale! You really scored on this one, Maryann.
I love the lights. I've been looking for swing-arm lights for my mudroom.

I love how the lamps turned out. I have a pair that are an old antique bronze finish. They'd look so much better in ORB.
Thanks for hosting!
I love these! Finding those items to turn from trash to treasure is so amazing!
Now I am ready to roll to GoodWill…
