Today I want to share with you one of my fav trash to LOVE transformations…
Did any of you get married in the late 90’s and register for one of these kitchen window shelves?
They were all the rage when we got married… cute at the time, but mine has been sitting in the garage since we moved here over 2 years ago. When we had a garage organization party (wahoo) I came across it again & INSPIRATION hit. Don’t you love when that happens. I suddenly saw what this sad, dusty and abandoned shelf was meant to be.
Why a new coat rack of course! I had found hooks at Lowes on clearance for 82 cents a few weeks ago, so I was set for this project.
I popped off the legs, did a little sanding, a few coats of 97 cent black spray paint from Lowes and a coat Krylon’s Satin Black and she was on her way.
I attached my coat rack hooks, but she needed a little more…
I added an inviting “Welcome” for my guests to hang their coats. To do this I just printed out “Welcome” in Word in the font and size I needed. Then I just traced on top with pencil to leave an indent (you have to push hard). Then I painted on top with some creamy vanilla acrylic paint.
I love being able to transform something I would have sold at a garage sale or donated into something I needed… Satisfaction!
So what have you been painting?
Party Rules:
***This is a PAINT party… so pretty please, link-up only paint related projects. I HATE deleting!
***Please put my nifty POPP button in your blog post or a link back to this party in your post… that way others from your blog can check out all the paint projects too.
***In the URL line, insert your blog post url… not your general blog address.
***In the “NAME” line place the title of your post.

Kudos to you for re-using something instead of just throwing it away to end up in a land fill somewhere. Cute and functional, the best in craft and design.
90's? oh my gosh… try mid 70's! hahaha
great job on your repurpose!
thanks for hosting.

Maryann, you are so right about using what you have and transforming (and I love the coat rack with the "Welcome"). My daughter is doing me a wonderful favor of putting together a yard sale for us. While her back is turned, I'm grabbing pieces out of boxes and hurriedly spray-painting them so that she doesn't realize it's the piece that she had just priced. I've done this to about four items now and she still hasn't figured it out (haha). Not sure why I'm enjoying this so much! Thank you for hosting. I'm always glad when I have painted something (or in this case sanded and poly) so that I can link to your party!
I remember those. I think I ordered one from ABC Distributing. Great redo…
What a GREAT idea that is!! I love it!

Dang, girl.. what a great idea! I would've never thought to do that. I always wanted one of those, but never got one and now, i don't even have a kitchen window.
Nothing to link up this week, but I still like to browse what everyone else has done.
Sooo much more chic as a coat hanger, Maryann! Great transformation! Don't you just love it when inspiration hits?
Check out my Time Travel Thursday linky party. Your post would be a perfect fit.
