Hello Painters!
Please forgive me… I’ve got nothing new to share with you this week. The last few weeks have been busier than normal for me.
But… I do have a great flashback to share with you!
So here’s my oldest daughter’s Ikea Wardrobe… cheap and basic.
Her bedroom is actually the bonus room, so no closet. We purchased the cheapest wardrobe at Ikea because the “plan” was to convert it to a real bedroom by adding a closet. Well two years later and finances have not allowed that. So… I figured why not make it look a lot prettier and even more functional.
Here’s some of my inspiration pictures…
These are all from Pottery Barn Teen.
So I went and collected my needed supplies…
a mirror ($5 @ Target)
trim (under $5)
roll of cork ($8, used about 1/2)
paint (in garage)
My daughter and I took the hardware off and gave it a light sanding. Then it got a coat of Kilz primer.
Then we painted it with 2 coats of white paint.
We used a hot glue gun to adhere the mirror to the wardrobe door.
The trim on the corkboard was cut with a miter box and saw.
A spray adhesive held the cork onto the door.
Then we used the glue gun again to hold the trim around the cork.
Here’s some close~ups…
So what have you been painting?

I am lovin' me this flashback, lady. Your daughter is blessed to have such a wonderful mommy. It must make your kids feel so special to have you put that much time and effort into their rooms. I love the end product on this one. You really did do an amazing job on it. I would have no idea that you didn't just buy that entire piece somewhere.
