Do you love mercury glass?
I just LOVE the way it looks.
I’ve seen different forms of creating your own mercury glass, so I figured I’d combined a few different forms to try and create some of my own.
Here’s what you need…
glass pieces (I shopped my house)
spray bottle with water
spray paint… I used Valspar’s Aluminum (because I had it on hand)
gloves (if you don’t want silver nails)
Here’s 1 of the pieces of glass I collected from around my house…
{Step 1}
I used a grocery bag and painters tape to protect the outside of each glass piece.
{Step 2}
Use your spray bottle and spray the inside of your glass piece. I squirted the inside about 5 times… just evenly misting the inside.
{Step 3}
Spray the inside of the pieces with your metallic spray paint. This is where gloves are helpful… the spray will have only up to escape in a vase. (see my hand below) It will not coat evenly, but will blotch because of the water… that’s what you want.
{Step 4}
Once dry you can remove the outer protection.
Here’s my faux mercury glass…
an Ikea votive holder aglow…
I think I might like it even more with a brighter silver paint… but I just used what I had.
I think it’s a pretty cool look!
I’m sharing my faux mercury glass at the AMAZING parties in my PARTIES Menu Bar!

Power of Paint Party Rules:
This is a PAINT party… so pretty please, link-up only paint related projects. I HATE deleting!
Please put my nifty POPP button (you can find this in my menu bar “Button” link) in your blog post or a link back to this party… that way others from your blog can check out all the paint projects too.
In the URL line, insert your blog post url… not your general blog address.
In the “NAME” line place the title of your post.
