*** Exciting news!!! I think I’m going to pass the 1 million hit mark tonight!!! I’ve got a giveaway once I pass that million marker. Check back tomorrow.***
I FINALLY made a sunburst mirror!
I’ve been wanting to make one for ages… so when I scored a 12” mirror for 50 cents at a garage sale a few weeks back, I knew I was ready to roll. (I actually found 2, so I think another sunburst is in my future).
A year ago I blogged about the 3 bamboo bundles that my parents brought me. You can read about it HERE. I only needed a fraction of one of these bundles for my mirror.
I used a wire cutter to chop out about 20 rows of bamboo.
Then I cut each of the bamboos into varies lengths with a pruning shear.
They each got 2 coats of white spray paint.
Then I used the trusty glue gun to attach each of the bamboo sticks.
1 1/2 glue sticks later and I was ready to hang this big boy. And the more I looked at it, the more I was thinking… It’s too big! I’ve got long arms, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to reach the center of the mirror to get it off the carpet, let alone to hang this beast.
And that’s when it happened! I thought I had it attached. I walked away and heard a crash!
Apparently it wasn’t attached! OOPS!
After walking away for a few minutes (too cool down and clear my head) I decided that I’d give my mirror a little trim. I cut down the longer bamboo sticks, keeping them all at random lengths.
With the shorter sticks I was able to make sure it was attached to the nail properly.
Love it!
With all the pain this baby caused (I tripped and landed on a hammer hanging this bad boy) it was definitely worth it!
So what have you been painting???
