132nd Power of Paint Party… Going Gray?

Welcome Paint Lovers to this week’s Power of Paint Party!  If you’re new here, I host a weekly party for you to show off your latest paint projects.  So share yours and be inspired by all the other projects as well.

This week I decided I wanted to update myuse-to-be-a-coffee-table desk(you can see how I made the transformationhere). Of course the easiest way to do that is with some spray paint!

I had some Krylon Classic Gray spray paint that I had purchased for another project (still in the works) that I decided to give a whirl with.

I’m not sure what I think?  I really LOVE the shade of gray, but I’m just not sure if I love it for a desk.

Maybe I’d like it more if I painted the walls? But do I want to paint the walls?

Maybe if I added some pewter rub’n’buff to the detailing?

Or maybe I just want it a more vibrant color, like TEAL??

Help a girl out… What do you think??

So what have you been painting?

  1. Maryann,
I actually really like the gray that you have used. Maybe you could make it look aged a little bit by adding a glaze maybe in a lighter gray, cream or burnt umber all over the entire desk. The glaze would really accentuate the beautiful detail on the sides. You could also “shabby” up the edges here and there by sanding them to reveal the base wood color underneath. I think it just looks a little too perfect the way it is and maybe that is why your are not “feeling” it yet. That is just my humble opinion.

Thanks again for hosting the linky party! :)

  2. Thanks for hosting! I love the gray! Maybe once you set it up with decorations you may like it more?
    xoxo,
    Michelle

Good point Michelle… I think I’ll accessorize before I decide if I want to change it up at all.

  3. I love that gray – I think you just need some accents – maybe in yellow, maybe in teal, maybe in BOTH!

Love the pah-tay – thanks for hosting :)

Yes… yellow and teal would be great and great vibrant colors for my office space.

  4. I could not agree with Carrie more. Those were my exact thoughts as I read your post & when I came to respond, I saw she said it beautifully. The only thing I could add would be maybe try using a metallic glaze or wash. I love the subtle ‘sheen’ a metallic wash gives off & think with some slight distressing it would look beautiful, especially in the braided detail on the apron.
    Thanks for hosting!

  5. I love the color – and I think it’s perfect for a desk – and I also happen
to think that sometimes a ” clean ” look is perfect – not everything
    has to be distressed?
And I agree with Cameron – yellow accessories would be perfect!!!
Thanks so much for hosting – it’s so appreciated!
    Hugs,
    Suzan

  6. I love the gray! What a gorgeous shade. Maybe if there was some white accessories on the desk, and some pops of teal, it could work for you! :) i love it though! Glad to have found your blog, I am Jen from http://www.migonishome.com and think paint makeovers are the best, check out the makeover tab at the top of my blog.

  7. I love this gray so much. What kind of paint did you use?
