141st Power of Paint Party… Burlap Painted Leaf Art

Welcome Paint Lovers to this week’s Power of Paint Party… a party about PAINT and only PAINT!  Come check out all the awesome paint projects and link up your great paint inspiration too.

So I’m in fall prep mode.  If you missed my post yesterday, I’m getting ready for the Countdown to Fall party (read here to learn more and see some exciting changes this year).

I’m slowing switching out items on my mantel to move from summer to fall.  Over the weekend I thought of a fun piece of burlap art to create.

tutorial

I made this cute painted leaf on burlap using freezer paper.

I used an image I created in Photoshop.  If you want a copy of it for yourself you can grab it here.

I layered the leaf image on top of the freezer paper and used an x-acto blade to cut it out.  I’ve got afull tutorial here on how I do this.

Then I ironed the cut-out leaf onto the burlap.  (Remember to always have the shiny side of the freezer paper facing down).

I used acrylic fabric paint to create my cute leaf… an espresso brown first and then I used a glittered orange right afterwards (before it was dry) to give it a little sparkle.

I let mine dry about 30 minutes and then peel off the freezer paper – the best part!
