Family Shells

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  If you missed my post last week about Google Friends Connect (GFC) phasing out on March 1st, you can read all about it here.  Bottom line… if you’ve been following me through GFC I’m asking you to start following me a new way.  Brent from Linky Tools (what I use to link up your projects for the Power of Paint Party) has created an awesome Linky Followers tool.  You can follow me through Linky Followers, or subscribe to receive my posts via email (on my sidebar) or through RSS feed (on my header).

Ok… onto the fun stuff!  I’m still trying to finish off my family room makeover.  I’ve got a few small projects and 2 big ones to get it finished (that are currently on the list, but you know how that changes!)

Over the weekend I worked on a sign for the ledge over the beadboard wallpaper.

A old frame wrapped in twine and shells collected by my kiddos…

love the textures and the memories and the meaning.

Perfect family room art!

Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine’s Day Mantel

Happy Monday!

This last weekend the older 2 kiddos were busy finishing up their science fair projects, so the littlest princess and I put the final tweaks on our Valentine’s mantel.

I kept it on the simple side this year.

With my lovey lanterns

Doilies used to stencil on the mirrors…

my burlap hearts

Some Epsom salt snow…

Heart doilies strung on twine by my youngest…

and my burlap Valentine’s Day sign.

Hoping you have a fabulous week….

Burlap Hearts

Happy Monday!

This weekend while the games were on I decided to play around with some red burlap.  Of course with red burlap and Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away my girls and I created some adorable burlap hearts for our Winter/Valentine’s day mantel ( reveal later this week).

Aren’t they sweet.

We created a heart template with some cardstock and traced the shape onto the red burlap.

I thought some jute twine would fix perfectly with the rustic burlap.

With a wide-eyed needle we stitched about the heart.

You know what I stuffed it with… cotton balls!  I didn’t have any pillow stuffing… but cotton balls worked great & I had a bunch in the linen closet!

Tomorrow night at the Power of Paint Party I’ll be sharing another part of this mantel.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lovey Lanterns

Happy Friday!  I’ve got another V-Day project to share.  I’m in a lovey mood with a whole board dedicated to Valentine’s Day on Pinterest.  Last week I found this easy, cost me nothing project to try.

1st… Save some of your cans from the recycling bin and give them a good cleaning before filling them with water.  Take your water filled cans and place them in the freezer.

2nd… Once the water is frozen, use a pen to trace on your design, letters, etc. Once you’re done you can just wipe it off (since it’s wet).

3rd… Use a hammer and nail to poke holes in your design.

4th… Pop out your ice chuck.

You may notice that the base of some of your cans may bulge when they freeze (2 of my 4 did).  After I  had dumped out the ice chunk, I just flipped them over and gave them a little tap with the hammer (all better).

I made a “Love”.. “xoxo”… and hearts.

Aren’t they cute!  And I bet you have all the supplies you need in your home right now.

Are you decorating for Valentine’s Day too?

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Valentine’s Day Burlap

Happy Monday!  Are you ready for this new week.  My kiddos are back to school today after 3 weeks off and I’ve got a list of projects that are calling my name that I can’t wait to get to.

With all the Christmas goodies packed away my mind has turned to winter and Valentine décor.   I hadn’t created a new burlap sign in a while so I thought I’d create a V-Day burlap sign.

Have you used Wordle before?  It is an oh-so-cool website where you can create subway style word art.  You plug in the words you want and then you can change the colors, font and the layout.  You can read more about it in the post I wrote here.

I’m selling Valentine’s Day burlap signs for $5 off now through February 5th.  If you are interested in ordering one you can email me at domesticallyspeaking (at) yahoo (dot) com.

If you haven’t already, you can check out the rest of the burlap signs here.

I hope you have a fabulous week & thanks for stopping by!

Organization Bug

Happy New Year!!!  Have you missed the PoPP Spotlight?  Sorry I haven’t done one for the last 2 weeks, but with Christmas & New Year’s over the weekends I’ve been trying to enjoy some family time.  I promise it will be back next Saturday.

I don’t know about you, but about 3pm on Christmas day I get the urge to put away all the Christmas décor, purge and declutter my home.  My littlest princess’ pleading for the tree to stay up for the rest of the week won out… but I’ve been on a mission this last week to make space for the abundance we were blessed with at Christmas.

If you’re like me and get that New Year’s organization bug, then I’ve got some goodies for you.  I found these gems at Pinterest.  You can follow me at Pinterest here.  I’ve got a whole board dedicated to Organization.

Isn’t it amazing how labels make everything look so much better!  Love utilizing the pantry door for calendar and organization goodies too.

How cute is the yarn labeling!

closet home office

Hall closet turned into a work space… love the wall!

Great ideas is you have an unfinished garage.

Labeled laundry shelves… better chance your kiddos will get them in the right place.

Great way to make use of space!

Mudroom Makeup

I LOVE a mudroom!  Gorgeous wall color and the baskets with chalkboards are too cute.

I hope I’ve help to inspire you… now go forth & ORGANIZE!!!

for the Love of… Kraft wrapping

Do you have all your presents wrapped?  If not I’ve found some beautiful, unique and creative wrappings for you all with craft paper.  I love gifts wrapped with Kraft paper… I find it so simply beautiful.

Let your kiddos cut up some beautiful snowflakes in some festive colors and place on top of your package.

Love using two different papers and twine.

How cute are these yarn pom-poms!

Let your kiddos go stamp crazy.

stamp gift wrap

Love the stamped name with a simple ribbon.

The doilies make this so elegant.

Happy Wrapping!
