The 2 year blogging anniversary celebration continues.  If you didn’t enter Monday’s giveaway, you can find it here. Tuesday’s giveaway is here.

All this week I’m counting down my top 5 blog posts.  You can see #5  here and #4 is here.  So let’s check out what made #3.

{M & M’s Teacher Appreciation Gift}

This week is teacher appreciation week.   Tomorrow my kiddos will take these easy to make gifts to their teachers.

I used mason jars, the same as I used for my Pottery Barn Candleholders.

Filled them with M&M’s… plain & peanut

Printed out this cute M&M poem…

Glued it to some cardstock to frame it out…

Hole punched around the edges & then weaved the twine through the holes & attached the poem with some twine to the jar.

I traced the lid on some leftover vellum paper to make a cute top.

Easy-peasy ~ CUTE and Yummy gift!

Here’s the poem (in case you want to copy, paste & use)

Green is for the inspiration you give me each day.

Blue is for your patience in showing me the way.

Orange is for your warmth and caring style.

Yellow is for the way you always make me smile.

Red is for my life that you have touched this year.

You’re a very special teacher just like this jar, that’s clear.

You place knowledge in our children’s hands

and melt into their hearts and lives forever.

You’re a "Magnificent" & "Marvelous" teacher

Thank you for being my M&M.

I’ve got 2 giveaways starting later today… stay tuned!

Wordling for your Teacher

In case your kiddos are still in school, I’ve got a memorable, easy thank you gift for your child’s teacher(s).

wordle teacher gift

If you haven’t used Wordle.net before… wait till you have some time to waste.  It’s so much fun to play with.  Basically it’s a free website that you type your words into and then it creates word clouds of those words.  You can make the words bigger by typing them more times.  Like Miss Smith I typed 3x’s, All American Elementary and 2010-2011 I typed 2x’s.

You can read my post with more wordle details HERE.

Another great tip:  To keep more than 1 word all together you need to use a tilde.  So for All American Elementary I entered All~American~Elementary.

You can customize your colors and you can change the font and the layout.

Print it out on some nice cardstock and place in an 8×10 frame… instant gift!

Thanking Your Teacher

Are you counting down till school is out?  Maybe you’re dreading summer vacation with kiddos home or maybe you can’t wait… whichever way you vote, you know you want to thank your awesome, hard-working teacher(s)!

A few weeks ago I came across this OH SO CUTE idea from the 3 super creative sisters at eighteen25

I made them for my kiddo’s teachers for Teacher Appreciation week, but these would be perfect for an end of the year thank you gift!

In just over an hour you can have this gift ready for your kiddo’s teacher.

Right here you can find the photo to send to your local 1 hour photo.

While you wait for your 1 hour photo, head on over to your local coffee shop to pick up a gift card and a coffee cup sleeve.

If you need to purchase a piece of cardstock you can grab one from any local drugstore’s office supply aisle.

Once you have all your supplies (photo, cardstock, gift card & coffee cup sleeve) you can assemble this cute gift in just a few minutes.  You just need scissors, tape and a stapler.

Cross one item off your to-do list during the crazy~ busy last weeks of school!

Get to Know Your Teacher Questionnaire

Today is our last day of our first week of school!  I forgot how looonnnggg that first week is… getting the household back into a school routine… bedtimes, waking kiddos up, packing lunches, filling out a TON of paperwork… it’s exhausting!

This is my youngest this week… 1st day of Kindergarten… I can’t believe how big she looks!

One thing I LOVE to do the first week off school is to give each of my kiddos teachers a “Getting to Know You Questionnaire.”

I think it’s a great way to learn about their teachers and to have some GREAT gift ideas for birthdays, Christmas and end of the year gifts.

I sent an email to each of their teachers, but you could print it up on cute paper and have your kiddo deliver it to their teacher.

So here’s a sample…

We’re so excited that you are (your kiddo’s name) teacher!  We’d love if you could take the time to fill out this questionnaire so we could get to know you a little better…

Favorite Scent:

Thank you!

The (your last name) Family

Now you’ll know what you can bake for their teacher… what great gift card they’ll love and use… or if you volunteer in their class you could arrive with their fav Starbucks beverage in hand… I know every teacher would love that surprise!

Sharing this Back-to-School idea with parties in my “PARTIES” menu bar button!
