How to make flower barrettes for the hair?

Start by heating up your glue gun. If you paper flowers have a long stem, you’ll need to trim it off so you’ll have a flat surface on the flower to glue onto the barrette clip.

You need to hold open the alligator clip as you glue on the flower, so you don’t glue the clip shut.

a dab of hot glue to attach the flower to the barrette.

I used a dab of glue to glue one flower on the tip and another at the ends of the clip. If you use just one larger flower you could glue it in the center of the clip.

Kept the metal hair clip held open for about 20 seconds till the glue dries.

And there you go…

  1. These are so cute. I have glued small flowers (from the wedding section of Hobby Lobby and Michael’s) and pom poms to barrettes but I have never used the alligator clips. I am so sad that my granddaughter and my SO;s are growing up so fast and don’t need little girl hair accessories any more! I have made some for our church Christmas bazaar, too, in holiday colors.

I’ve been trying to find a good glue for a similar project. I’ve tried several glues, including hot glue gun, and that seemed to be the best one, once I changed to a hi-temp gun. However, one pin did lose its charm.
Did you have a problem with the flower falling off?

  3. Hello beautiful! Super cute. Pinned and tweeted. Thank you for being a part of our party and we hope to see you on Monday at 7 pm. We can’t wait to party with you! Happy Valentines’ Day! Lou Lou Girls
