115th Power of Paint Party… Baseball Chalkboard
Welcome Paint Lovers! Well in honor of little league and pony baseball and softball starting I thought I’d share a flashback to the baseball chalkboard I made for my son’s room.
{Baseball Chalkboard ~ How to}
This chalkboard all started when I discovered an already round piece of pressed wood in my parent’s garage. They didn’t need it, so I scored my wood base for FREE (My favorite price).
I spray painted it with some cheap, flat, black paint (my cheap primer)… 2 coats. Anyone else use the under $1 flat spray paint as primer?
Then came the multiple coats of chalkboard paint. I gave this piece 3 coats.
To create the baseball’s arched stitching I took a piece of poster board and folded it and then cut it in an arch (so the sides would match).
After tracing the arch with a pencil, I took a small paint brush and some white acrylic paint and painted over my penciled line.
Then I painted the stitching.
Oh, and don’t forget. After your chalkboard paint has dried, really good, I give it a couple days… rub the side of your chalk over the entire surface and then erase.
To hang the baseball chalkboard I used one of these nifty, teethed thingamajiggers (I’m sure they have a fancier name) on the back of the chalkboard.
I used one of these goodies to make sure his chalkboard wouldn’t come crashing down in the middle of the night.
I’m sure it weighs less than 10 lbs.… but it’s what I had in the garage.
You can see how big it is in this photo… about 2 feet wide.
So what have you been painting?
Power of Paint Party Rules:
#1… This is a PAINT party… so pretty please, link-up only paint related projects. I HATE deleting!
#2… I’d love if you put my nifty POPP button (you can find it up in my menu bar’s BUTTONS) in your blog post or a link back to this party somewhere on your blog… that way others from your blog can check out all the paint projects too. (not a requirement but always appreciated)
#3… Share the Love… visit the other paint pals.
Sorry I put the wrong pic so feel free to delete and I will rejoin with appropriate project tomorrow. ~blush~
Thanks for hosting.
