56th Power of Paint Party ~ Master Paint
Welcome Paint Lovers…
This last week I was painting up a storm. We’ve had beautiful weather here in So. California, so I painted the master bedroom and did a lot of spray painting outside in the glorious sunshine.
Here’s my {Phase 1 Master Bedroom} reveal…
I’ve been dreaming of this day since before we moved in… our master bedroom painted!
Good-bye white walls!
The cutting in always takes the longest… my trusty Purdy paintbrush… LOVE it!
Here’s a little better look at the blue…
The paint color I fell in love with was Benjamin Moore’s Serenata. I think it’s a beautiful, calming, perfect for us blue.
Try to ignore the messy/torn apart room and focus on the dreamy blue paint… isn’t she lovely!
Here’s a close-up.
The master bedroom is getting a full makeover this month… new window coverings, artwork, spray painted accessories and a gorgeous addition to the bedroom focal wall… I can’t wait to share with you (tomorrow)!!!
One of my blog goals for 2011 is to start making videos for my blog, so here’s my 1st (so be kind). I decided to make a video showing you how I cut-in the edges when I paint. Here’s some added tips for cutting in:
- I dip the brush in about 1/2”
- I wipe off the side of the brush that will be facing me, leaving the side pressed against the wall with paint
- I put on brush at a 45 degree angle (hopefully the video will show this better)
- I put the tip of the brush a little lower than the rest of the brush while cutting in.
So without further ado, my 1st blog video…
So what have you been painting?

Great Blog,
Karryann
Thanks for hosting. Love the blue color. Have relaxing! I love to paint but cutting in is the worst to me. However, I have learned a lot of tricks of the trade so it is at least a little easier for me now! Great job!
Looks great! I was wondering, how does this blue compare with the Martha Stewart 'Heavenly Blue' that you tried? I have a little test area of heavenly blue up on my wall right now and I like it, but I'm not sure it is "the" color. Did you find the Serenata to be lighter, darker, more or less blue, green, or gray? Blue IS a difficult color to pick! Thanks 🙂
Blue is lovely! Quite calming – the bedroom is a sanctuary – a place to be calm and rested – I am looking forward to all your reveals,
Kathy
Love that calm and pretty shade of blue! And congrats on your first blog video. Can't wait to see more! … And just so you know, it's been icy and in the 20's here – yuk! Maybe I need to come for a visit!!!
Cool video! I did plenty of 'cutting in' last week while painting the wooden window frames in my bedroom. I was watching your video thinking 'oh I do it in the other direction to Maryann…then I looked at your hand…you are left-handed 🙂
great start to the master bedroom! can't wait to see the rest! i'm hoping to re-do my master this year too!
The blue IS lovely! Can't wait to see it all done! I've been dying to tell you that ever since you did that post about painting walls black I've been in LOVE with the idea, so I did! I'll link up in a couple more weeks when the accesorizing is finished. I absolutely love it, thanks so much for sparking the idea! And for hosting this fun party!
