Coconut Lime Whipped Body Lotion
I created this awesome smelling Coconut Lime Whipped Body Lotion because I am a lotion junkie! I love lotions – yummy-smelling lotions. There is lotion on my nightstand, in my purse, in my car, bathroom counter… you get the picture. I’m pretty picky about my lotions. I want them to be creamy, but not too greasy… something that is a great skin moisturizer… and of course, it needs to smell amazing! So I thought I would do some experimenting and see if I could create my own. One of my favorite lotion smells is coconut lime (yes I like to imagine I’m on a tropical island) so that is what I created.
You won’t believe how easy this is to make! I’m a HUGE fan of coconut oil. I love slathering it on after a hot bath or shower. I have really dry skin, especially in the winter, and my skin just loves to soak up the coconut oil and this whipped lotion is deep moisturizing. It’s perfect for every day use, especially in our dry Southern California climate.
Doesn’t it almost look like frosting? You could eat it, but your skin will like it more.
So here’s how you make Whipped Body Lotion…

How to Make Whipped Body Lotion
That’s it! You could totally pick whatever scent you love – but I adore lime with coconut, it’s a great natural fragrance that is a clean smell. So place your solid coconut oil in a mixing bowl. I do 1 cup batches, but you could easily do more. Drop-in 5-10 drops of lime essential oil. I’d start with 5 and see how strong the scent is for you. Add more if you want a stronger scent.
Turn your mixer to medium and let it whip! I stopped after about 20 seconds to scrape down the sides – then let it go another 10 seconds. Store in your favorite jars.
If you get blazing hot in the summer as we do, you can store your whipped lotion in the fridge as coconut oil will start to melt. The cold lotion feels amazing on your hot skin and brings it back to a great normal skin feel.
These are a great gift idea too – perfect for mother’s day, birthdays, Christmas…

There are many questions above and some of them are the same as mine. However, I do not see answers to them. Am I missing something?
This is not a lotion that you put on and then you go out and lay in the sun, correct?
Hi Linda – there’s answers in the comments. Maybe it’s not loading for you correctly? No this is not suntan lotion. It’s just a body lotion.
Hi, if I don’t have lime essential oil, could I use lime juice? Thanks.
I’ve never tried. I’d worry it might separate, but you could try it.
The link to find out where to get coconut oil won’t open – is anyone else having that problem?
When you whip the coconut oil does it stay like frosting or turn back to the hard substance?
Jenn it does firm up – but I think it’s easier to scoop out than plain coconut oil when it’s hardened.
What if I don’t have a mixer??
This is a great way to use coconut oil, and I have lots of it in my home right now.
Thanks
