Burlap, Sweater & Shell Wreath
My door has been showing off a Valentine’s wreath WAY too long.
On my last trip to Dollar Tree I came across this wreath… 18 inches…
much larger than the usual foam wreaths I’ve found there. So I thought I’d make a cute Spring wreath with it.
I had a little bit of burlap leftover from the son’s burlap curtain add-on and my burlap flower pin for my sweater pillow. There wasn’t enough to wrap it around, but I thought maybe cutting into strips would work. I made each strip about a 1/2 inch thick. Then I just tied the strips around the wreath.
I used even small pieces… I just tied the strip of burlap around a couple pieces of the twigs, verses the whole wreath…
I started to run out of burlap before I filled in the wreath, so I searched my scraps and thought my sweater scraps, leftover from my sweater pillows might work great. So I just cut those into 1/2 inches strips too.
This is how it looked…
it needed another layer… shells!
So I just hot glued some shells in clusters around the wreath.
But I wasn’t finished there… I wanted to monogram it. So I took a piece of cardboard and cut it into a “C”. I took my glue gun and twine and wrapped the twine around the “C”.
Here it is hanging on our front door….
I love how it pops on our black door…
Do you think it’s too high?
I love having shells on my door… a promise of beach days in the future… maybe next week as the kiddos are on Easter break.

What a wonderful way to combine all those natural elements and it DOES pop against the black door! Great!

Very pretty and creative idea! I love how you tied the twine letter in the middle. 🙂
Really creative! I would love to know more about how the number was done on your door, as well. It looks very English to me. Hope you'll come by Atticmag for our really useful giveaway. — Jane F.

The shells are making me want to head to the beach now! Our big beach trip is not until Aug this year. I am sure I will have to make a few day trips before then.
I love Dollar Tree, I have found so many treasures there!
Looks great and the love touch of shells 🙂
Thanks for the tutorial
