This last Monday we celebrated “Jujubee’s” 5th birthday!
We had lunch at Sonic…Frolicked at the beach…
(don’t you love her mermaid tail!)
Enjoyed a yummy dinner at one of our fav Mexican restaurants…and then went over to my in-laws for cake, ice cream & presents.
This year “Jujubee” wanted a Cinderella cake, so I thought I’d practice some more with fondant. Back in June I made my 1st fondant cake… Minnie Mouse for “Blondie’s” birthday.
Jujubee LOVED the cake… but for what seemed like such a simple cake… this one was a challenge!
For Cinderella’s skirt I used a Pampered Chef pitcher bowl (glass) and baked up Pioneer Woman’s Best Chocolate Cake. Once the cake was cooling I realized that Cinderella’s SUPER long legs were too long. My hubby suggested we amputee Cinderella at the knees, but Jujubee wanted to be able to play with Cinderella once the cake was cut.
So I baked two 8 inch round cakes to give her some height!
From this photo you can see that the cake barely got to her waist… you can still see a little bit of her legs.
I had leftover pink fondant from Blondie’s cake, so we only had to make the blue marshmallow fondant.
Another summer birthday down! Kiddos’ family party is on Saturday and my son’s in August… halfway there!
