A Desk Fit For A Princess

Thanks for Sharing!

When we moved into our house, just over 2 years ago, my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten.  With the start of homework I wanted to find a pretty little desk for her room.  So I kept my eyes open at garage sales and scoured Craigslist hoping to find a great deal.

Then one day I came upon the deal of all deals… a FREE little girl’s desk on Craigslist.  It was near my parents house, so I quickly called them to see if they were available to pick it up all while shooting off email to see if it was still available.  It’s all about timing with Craigslist!

Thankfully it was still available(it had just been listed).  My parents were gracious enough to pick it up and brought it out on their next visit.

When my dad unloaded it I was in awe!  Sure it needed some sanding and paint, but this desk was so beautiful & perfect for one of my little princesses.

Here she is after being sanded, primed and 2 coats of white paint.

I changed out the hardware to these cute crystal and pink handles and knob from Target.

Gotta have a close-up on the GORGEOUS detailing…

Isn’t she pretty!!!  Total cost = about $15.  I had all the paint supplies, so just had to purchase the hardware.

LOVE IT and even better, so does my daughter.

Stay tuned… I’m finishing up my 1st ever chalkboard project (finally) and attempting to hang my Ballard’ish painting today.  I’ve been a little under the weather since Sunday, so today is the 1st day I’ve really felt motivated… Yeah!

Edited… I’m joining Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Feature Friday!

  1. What a wonderful find! You have made it just beautiful for your daughter. I would have loved a desk like that when I was young!

  2. That desk is gorgeous! I love the pink knobs and the feminine (and French) details of the piece. I would've loved that dresser as a girl…hey, even now! Thanks for linking up!
