DIY Painted Owl
I love finding hidden treasures at the thrift store. This little owl lantern was one of those. He looked all dark and lonely and in need of a makeover. So my thrift store makeover for this month was a DIY Painted Owl.
DIY Painted Owl
Here’s what I started with… see a little dark for what I was looking for.
I used some creamy, white acrylic paint and brushed it on lightly… I wanted some of the metal to be peaking out.
I added a little bit of metallic wax around the eyes to help them pop.
The results were a cute, creamy white owl for our mantel.
Now check out some other great thrift store finds from these great ladies…
He was cute to begin with, but he’s even cuter painted! Thanks for sharing!
Your owl looks great! Much better in white!
That little owl was super cute to begin with but the makeover just makes it pop! Beautiful piece of decor. Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday this week!
Hi Maryann,
Greeting to you. 🙂
Wow.. this looks fabulous and I must like praise your creative work. Glad to hear that you love finding the hidden treasure at the thrift store. This is really unbelievable to see the own which is made up off useless lantern. It does take a lot to do this thing for me. You’re great and you have proved it by presenting it in front of us.
I love your idea to bring it from thrift store and design it as a owl. The new look of your work is amazing. The color which you have painted is well suiting in owl. Having a proper skill in painting help to look the poor and old things fantastic, and you have shown that.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
With regards.

He’s so cute Maryann, perfect for fall. It’s funny, I have one from my mom’s house and I was thinking of painting it but now that I see your’s I’m going to keep it. It’s almost the same color as your after 🙂
