Easiest DIY Drawer Organization

It’s time to kick off the new year with the Power Tool Team and this month our challenge was organization.  Now maybe your kitchen drawers are beautifully organized, but mine have been a crazy mess lately… especially the one next to my oven with all the spoons, spatulas, etc.  So for my organization challenge I decided to take on make the Easiest DIY Drawer Organization.  It’s SO quick and easy.

The quickest and easiest DIY Drawer Organization

Easiest DIY Drawer Organization

What I used to make my Drawer Organization:  {affiliate links for your conveniene}

  • poplar hobby boards
  • miter saw
  • yard stick
  • sand paper

I started with this BIG mess…

Messy kitchen drawer before DIY Drawer Organization

not pretty at all.  I cleared out all my cooking utensils and gave the drawer a good wipe down.  Then I used my yard stick to measure the distance inside the drawer from front to back at two locations.

Measuring to cut your hobby board for drawer organization

I used my miter saw to cut them down to the right length.  I wanted them SNUG in there.  Remember I was going for quick and easy – no glue – no frame around the outside.  So when you’re measuring it’s better to error on a little longer and then gradually cut some more of the board off.  If needed sand your ends to get them smooth.

Adding dividers to your kitchen drawers

Then I just pushed the boards into place.  WHAT… yep… that easy folks.  Now if you want to get fancy and make sure those boards aren’t going anywhere you can use some wood glue to the ends.

Keep your kitchen utensils organized with this easy DIY Drawer Organization project

Then add your cooking utensils back to the drawer in their own happy spot.

DIY Drawer Organization

There you go… DIY Drawer Organization that took me less than 5 minutes to make!
