Thanks for Sharing!

We’re in the thick of winter and my skin feels it right now!  I love using body scrubs to help exfoliate my dry skin.  So I’ve got a great homemade body scrub recipe for you in one of my favorite winter scents… Vanilla Lavender.  If you’ve never tried making your own scrub, you must!  It’s SO easy, takes only minutes and you can of course customize it with your favorite scent.

Homemade Body Scrub Recipe Vanilla Lavender Recipe Ingredients

Start by melting your coconut oil in the microwave.  I start with a minute at 50% power.  Stir it well.  Add 20 seconds at a time until it’s completely dissolved.  Add the sugar to a bowl, followed by the sugar and mix well until combined.

Add drops of oil until you achieve your desired scent.  Essential oils will take less drops than soap making oil.  Mix well and then put your scrub into mason jars to store.

I keep a jar on the edge of my tub and grab out a scoop with my hand as needed.  The lavender is the perfect scent for an end of the day soak in the tub.   And of course if lavender isn’t your thing, change up the scent and make it something you love!

  1. There’s a part in the recipe that states: “Add the sugar to a bowl, followed by the sugar and mix well until combined.“
    Please clarify, thanks.

    Can’t wait to try!

  2. This looks exactly what I want to make for the ladies in my family. How long will it stay fresh or should I use a preservative. Can’t wait to start. I think I will melt the oil over a hot water bowl. Will it work with a verbena scent. Thank you

  3. If I may say, it’s not a good idea to microwave coconut oil, it tends to remove the natural phytonutrients. It doesn’t take any time at all to melt it using a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a pot with simmering water 🙂

  4. I feel like I can smell this through my computer screen, so lovely! We would love for you to share this at the Create- Share – Inspire link party happening tonight at 8pm est. Hope to see you there!

  5. I love homemade body scrubs! I haven’t made any in a while though. I’ll have to start again and make this one 🙂 I bet is smell amazing too.
