No more hand towels on the floor!

Thanks for Sharing!

Can you guess one of my pet-peeves?

Hand towels on the floor!

I know it’s not their fault (most of the time)… they go to dry their little hands and in the process of drying they pull the towel off the towel bar & when they are little, re-hanging a towel is a challenge.

So… light bulb moment to the rescue!

Here’s one of the hand towels in my girls’ bathroom…

Isn’t it cute… I just love pink & green for a little girl!

I took some pink ribbon I had on hand, for my hairbow projects… some white thread and a needle.

I cut a piece of ribbon about 15 inches long and then cut a 2nd ribbon at the same length.  I folded the ribbon in 1/2 and just stitched it to the back of the towel.

SIMPLE… less than 5 minutes.. and I’m a sewing novice!

The ribbon really is a deep pink (a little darker than the darkest pink in the towel)… not sure why it’s lookin’ red’ish on my screen.

My 4-yr-old said this morning, “Thanks mom for decorating our towel, she looks much prettier with bows!”

I have to agree!

Now I just need to find some cheap mis-tint or ReStore celery green paint for their bathroom.

  1. Great practical project which also looks darling! You've got a pretty smart 4-year old there!

  2. I have one of these that my Grandma made for me after my oldest was old enough to use the restroom by himself – so he could wash his hands and always have a towel at his level.

    I love these things!

  7. Great idea, Maryann! My hand towels usually wind up just bunched up on the counter.

  8. Your tied up hand towel is pure genius. I hated the towel always hitting the floor. Way to solve a problem and make it cute too.

  9. Great idea! People have done this sort of things with kitchen towels on the stove, yet very few have probably thought to do it with the bathroom towel! Good luck on the paint search!

  10. This is the color scheme I used in my daughters room too!! I love the pinks and greens together!! I just finished her room remodel .. I wish she had her own bathroom I would so work on this idea!!!

  11. Okay. REALLY? I think you should get a Nobel Prize for this or something. Seriously. You just shifted my paradigm or something. That is my pet peeve #582…although for me, it's just the towels scattered on the counter. Love it!!!!
