I’ve got 2 beautiful, sweet daughters.  One is 10 and the other is 13 and they LOVE to give gifts to their friends!  Anyone else have girls in that age range?  I’m not sure if it’s just a phase or it’s their personalities… but any excuse to give a gift and they are on it.  So needless to say they’ve been planning out Christmas gifts for their friends for weeks.  So I suggested they make some cute Peppermint Bath Salt Ornaments for their friends.  These are super cute… I’d love one… plus they take only a few minutes to make.

Who doesn’t enjoy a soak in the tub.  One of these bath salt ornaments will give 2 relaxing soaks.

Here’s what you need:  (affiliate links for your convenience)

Peppermint Bath Salt Ornaments

  • 2 cups epsom salt
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • a few drops of peppermint oil (add 1-2 at a time till you get your desired scent)
  • red food coloring (if desired)
  • plastic bulb ornaments

Start by mixing the epsom salt, baking soda and peppermint oil.  Then take 1/2 and place in another bowl and add a drop of the red food coloring…mix and add more if needed.

Using a funnel made filling the ornaments super easy.  I added 2-3 tablespoons of the red and then 2-3 tablespoons of the white… going back and forth until it was filled.

Placing the ornament in ice cream dish/bowl keeps your hands free.

I added a sprig of greenery and tied it all up with a red and white baker’s twine bow.

A super cute gift idea!  This recipe makes enough to fill two 3 1/2″ ornaments.

I’m sure their friends will love them and so will yours!

I made these over the weekend with a group of girlfriends. Our mixture what didn’t have any food coloring added turned blue! Have anyone had this happen to them??

How strange. I’ve never had that issue or had anyone else mention that issue before.

I am wondering about the food coloring – is there any issue with it staining the tub?

    Love this idea ! It’s very cute and perfect for gift-giving. I am surprised to see a plastic ornament used however;
Essential oils should always be used in glass containers… Never plastic!!

Love the idea! I just downloaded some peppermint gift tags for free. I actually forgot where I got them, but You could google free peppermint gift tags. I printed mine out in the smallest mode I could because my gift box was very small. It gets kind of expensive for the kids to give ALL their friends a gift. My idea was to make some peppermint earrings and bracelets with paper beads. I was also able to find a small peppermint gift box template to print out. So, parents, take heart, there is still a way to treat friends and have fun, too!
Thanks for sharing this! It will go so good with some of the peppermint themed things we have so far!
