Grandma’s Coffee Cake

My Grandma's Coffee Cake recipe that has some great nutmeg flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon ground nutmeg fresh is best
  • 3/4 cup oil I use canola you could also use melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix together the sugars, flour, nutmeg, oil and salt.
  3. Once combined remove 1 cup of this mixture and set aside (topping).
  4. In a separate container mix together the buttermilk, egg, baking powder and baking soda.
  5. Add the buttermilk mixture to the flour/sugar mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Pour this mixture into a baking dish. I used an 8"x 10".
  7. Sprinkle the 1 cup mixture you had set aside on top for the crumble.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
