Favorite Tri Tip Roast Recipe

Our favorite Tri Tip Roast recipe.  It's quick and easy to put together.

Ingredients

  • Tri Tip Roast trimmed, 2-3 lbs
  • 2-3 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons favorite seasoned salt I love Lawry's
  • 2 teaspoons ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Season your tri tip roast with the garlic salt, seasoned salt and pepper. Let it sit at room temperature 1-2 hours, so help bring it to room temperature.
  2. Preheat your grill pan or grill to medium high heat.
  3. If you're using a grill pan, preheat your oven to 325.
  4. I used my grill pan for the tri tip shown but you can do it on an outdoor grill too.
  5. Once pan is really hot sear each side of tri tip roast for 2-3 minutes until you have good grill marks.
  6. Then I transferred the tri tip roast to a roasting pan and placed it into a preheated 325 degree oven.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes until sent of roast registers 130-135 degrees (for medium).
  8. Remove your roast, tent it with aluminum foil and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  9. Slice your tri tip roast against the grain.
