Lemon Cake Mix Donuts

Ingredients

Lemon Cake Mix Donuts

  • 1 15.25 ounce lemon cake mix
  • 2 tbsp flour if your cake mix is over 16 ounces leave out the flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup water

Lemon Glaze

  • 1 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Lemon Cake Mix Donuts

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray your donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Start with the dry ingredients by adding your cake mix and flour to a bowl. Mix to combine.
  • Then add the wet ingredients, the egg, oil, and water to the bowl and mix to combine.
  • I scoop my batter into a large Ziploc bag, seal and snip one of the bottom corners off. Slowly pipe the batter into each cavity on the donut pan, filling each cavity only 1/2 full.
  • Place the donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for 14-16 minutes, until the donuts are firm to the touch.
  • Let the lemon cake donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Lemon Glaze

  • In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, and lemon juice until smooth.
  • Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip the top half of the donut into the glaze and immediately sprinkle with lemon zest (if desired).
  • Repeat until complete.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 4 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
