Serving Size 10starrs
Equipment
1 large saucepan
1 rimmed baking sheet
parchment paper
star cookie cutter
Ingredients
4tablespoonsbutter
5½cupsmini marshmallows
6cupsrice krispie cereal
red and blue sprinkles
red, white, and blue stars
red and blue decorating sugar
Instructions
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. It's easier to use a large baking sheet than a 9"x13" pan when cutting out shapes.
In a large pan, over low heat, melt your butter. Once the butter is melted, add your marshmallows.
Once the marshmallows are melted, remove the pan from the heat and add the rice krispie cereal. Mix quickly until it's evenly coated.
Add some red and blue sugar sprinkles and stir.
Pour the mixture onto the parchment paper pan. I like to rub some butter on my hands, or nonstick spray, before pressing treats evenly into the pan.
Sprinkle the top with red, white, and blue stars. Press the stars gently into the treats so they will stick.
Let cool for 30 minutes at room temperature.
After 30 minutes, press your star cookie cutter into the treats. If your star cutter doesn't easily cut through, run a knife around the edge of the cookie cutter to cut through all the way. Move the stars to parchment paper until ready to serve.
Notes
Store treats in airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
