Instructions
Make Cinnamon Sugar
Combine the ground cinnamon and sugar together to create the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Make Apple Pie Wontons
Start by laying one of the wonton wrappers on a sheet of parchment paper. Place a slightly damp paper tower and cover the rest of the wrappers until you need them (they can dry out very easily).
Place a teaspoon size of apple pie filling in the center of each wonton.
Dip your finger in the water and use your finger to brush water along the 2 edges of the wonton wrapper (2 edges that touch each other. See photo)
Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner, press lightly on the touching side edges to create a seal.
Get some more water on your finger and dab the bottom corner of your triangle, then bring the left corner down and press it to the bottom corner to create a seal.
Repeat with the corner on the right side until you’re left with this shape.
Fill a pot with 2-3 inches of oil and heat on medium heat until you’re at 350 degrees. I’ll put a empty wonton wrapper in to test the oil. If it floats instantly with lots of bubbles and the bottom side browns within 30ish seconds you’re ready for frying.
Place your wontons in to the hot oil. Make sure you don’t overcrowd them. I cooked 2-3 at a time. They will cook in 60-90 seconds, so keep on eye on them.
Once they are golden brown, remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined plate.
Let the excess oil soak off for a couple minutes then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar (confectioner’s sugar).
Best served warm.
