Equipment

  • mason jar
  • stand mixer or hand mixer

Ingredients

  • Angel Food Cake
  • 1 small box lemon pudding mix follow directions on box
  • milk as directed on pudding mix
  • 3 cups strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups whipped topping or heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  • If making your angel food cake homemade, make your recipe and allow it to cool completely before proceeding.
  • Prepare the lemon pudding mix according to the packaging. Place in the refrigerator to allow it to set up. You can use a hand mixer, stand mixer, or even a whisk.
  • Put your fresh or frozen strawberries into a saucepan. Cook down on medium-low heat until the strawberries have softened and the juices have come out. If frozen this takes about 10 minutes.
  • Cut the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes.
  • If you want to whip up your own whipped cream, whip it until stiff peaks form.
  • Begin layering your trifle. I did the pattern of angel food cake, lemon pudding, strawberry sauce, and cool whip.
  • Repeat until you reach to top of your mason jar or trifle dish.

Notes

Keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
Leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, although the strawberry juices will start to soak into the angel food cake within a day.
