I remember while growing up that I was a part of the girl version of Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts. I have fond memories of meetings full of crafts and learning new skills. I think it was a place that helped to foster my creative side.
Now days I have quite a few friends who have their boys involved in the Boy Scouts of America. I know they love having their sons involved in a wonderful organization that fosters team work and building friendships, learning new things and family activities.
Here are just some of the great reasons to have your son in Boy Scouts:
Scouting – Relieving The Back-To-School Tension
With every new school year comes a whole new set of challenges. New teachers. New friends. New subjects. Scouting can help round out a boy’s education and improve both his confidence and comfort level with other students. And by giving him supplementary experiences outside the classroom, there’s a good chance he’ll perform better in the classroom.
Healthy Living The Scout Way
It’s no secret that childhood obesity is a growing problem. One way to combat it is to ensure kids stay active and eat right. As a youth advocate, Scouting offers activities that help kids stay in shape and educate them on proper nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.
Exploring Future Tech With Scouting
Scouting isn’t just tying knots and camping. It’s also introducing young boys to the technologies that are shaping the future. Boy Scouts is rolling out a new curriculum with emphasis on STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math. The Robotics merit badge, the most recent of the 31 STEM-related merit badges, is helping Scouts develop critical skills that are relevant in today’s competitive world.
Bringing Family Into The Scouting Picture
It’s no secret that family is a major part of all young people’s lives. Scouting embraces the role of the family and supports activities and experiences that get everyone involved. Cub Scouting, in particular, takes great care in teaching Scouts a wholesome system of values and beliefs while building and strengthening relationships among family members.
