Advertising Opportunity and a Non-Scheduled Pantry Organization…

Now back to home life…

Sunday morning my son (who’s 9) asked if he could organize our pantry.  I told him to pick one shelf to work on before church.  I thought how nice and 1st born of him (I’m a 1st born too and can understand that need that can just consume you some days… any other 1st borns understand that?).

I went about getting myself and the girls ready.  Meanwhile he wasn’t just moving a few items around… he had pulled everything off 2 shelves!

Then he proceeded to organize them to his convenience… makes sense since this is what I do.  He put all the his favorite items right at his eye level.  He made it all neat and organized… only problem… I couldn’t find anything since I didn’t do it.  Plus, all the snack goods were lower than I like, kid level.

So… Pantry Re-Organization went on my list for Monday.

Doesn’t it look so organized now!  This turned out to be a blessing… it really needed to be cleaned out… old bags of cereal with only 5 Rice Krispies left were hiding up there!

The pic on the right is the lower shelves.  I keep my rotisserie and bread maker on the floor, plus my duplicate big items (I’m big at scooping up items when I find them at a great price).

The next shelf up has my baking goods.  I’d love to eventually have some cute, clear containers for my flour, sugar, etc… currently Ziploc is my friend.

The top shelf shown has my can goods, nuts (we love nuts here), pasta goods and a basket of loose snacks.  I put the sleeve of Ritz crackers and those types of loose items in one basket to stream-line.

Next shelf up has breakables and boxed items mainly… oh… and those yummy Fudge Graham cookies… I’ll be good and eat a Rice Cake instead.

Top shelf… cereals, chips, crackers and rice.

Check out all the extra space up there!  We have 9 foot ceilings downstairs…. one of my goals of 2010 is to put an extra shelf up there… I can’t live with wasted space.

Well… hope you enjoyed the tour of my pantry… and remember, even those unplanned, unscheduled hiccups of life can be a blessing in the long run.

Oh, it looks fabulous! I have that same TALLLL shelf in my pantry, and ended up stacking my covered cake pans and covered pie plates – the ones that I use at pot lucks. I will be really interested to see what you make of it!

I just had my 14 year old son install new shelves in my pantry to take up some of that wasted space. He is my go to guy when it comes to building things… Your 9 year old would love it if you handed him a drill and a level and had him help! It feels so good to get the pantry just the way you like it, hope it lasts!

I love love love to organzine. If my son came and said that to me, it would be better than, well, I don't know what but it would make my heart happy. I am an only child and I have to have everything in its place. That is why moving has been so hard to do. Everything is not where it is suppose to be:)

I reorganize my pantry even when it doesn't need it.
