Easy Cherry Turnovers
Friends I love Cherry Turnovers! Really, I truly love them. So today I’m sharing with such a simple cherry turnover recipe. It takes such a few ingredients and very little time… so when that craving hits you can whip up some right away.
Cherry Turnover
Here’s what you need:
- puff pastry
- cherry pie filling
- powdered sugar
- water or milk
I usually keep a box of puff pastry in my freezer. If you have it frozen you’ll want to set it on your counter for 40 minutes prior. I sprinkle a little bit of flour on my counter and then place one sheet of puff pastry on top. I will roll over it with a rolling pin just to smooth it.
Then with a knife you’ll want to cut your your sheet of puff pastry into 4 pieces. Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry. You’ll have a total of 8 squares.
Fill a small bowl with a little water. Spoon 2 heaping tablespoons of cherry pie filling onto the center of one of the puff pastry squares. Wet your finger and trace around the outer edge of the puff pastry piece. Place another square of puff pastry on top and with a fork cinch the edges together.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 18-22 minutes until a light golden brown on top.
Once your turnover has cooled you can add your icing drizzle. Place 2-3 tablespoons of powdered sugar in a bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon of water or milk. Mix, if it’s too thick at another 1/2 teaspoon until you get the desired thickness.
Then you can enjoy your flakey, cherry filled pastry! So delicious and so easy to make! Enjoy!!!
Can finally have my cherry turnovers without spending too much. Mr. Furry doesn’t care for cherry so we always buy apple pie. While I do like apple pie would be nice to be able to whip up some cherry turnovers once in while. Not too often so I don’t gain weight. I have a strong sweet tooth for bakery, grew upon lots of homemade sweets.
Happy week
