Peppermint Sugar Cookies
These Peppermint Sugar Cookies are so easy to make and delicious to share with friends and neighbors during the holiday season!
Ingredients
- sugar
- oil
- baking powder
- vanilla
- salt
- eggs
- all purpose flour
- peppermint oil or peppermint extract
- red and green sprinkles (or you could use crushed candy canes or peppermint candies)
How to make Peppermint Sugar Cookies
Start by mixing your wet ingredients together. I like to start by combining the sugar and oil. I use a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, but you can use a hand mixer if you prefer. Mix together until smooth and combined.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until it’s combined. Then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
In a large bowl combine your dry ingredients. Stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the flour mixture to the mixer bowl while the mixer is on low. Mix until combined.
Now to add the peppermint flavor. You can use either food grade peppermint oil or peppermint extract. Add the flavor and mix until it’s combined.
Then add the sprinkles if you like. You could use crushed peppermint candy instead, which would give great color plus additional peppermint flavor.
Scoop out the cookie dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake.
Then I let them cool on a wire rack. They make a great Christmas treat with that festive mint flavor!
