Assembling the Apple Crisp Funnel Cake
Make the Funnel Cakes
Making homemade funnel cakes is such a fun recipe! You can have funnel cakes for the family made in less than 30 minutes. You can find my favorite funnel cake recipe here! It’s a pretty simple recipe that you can put together in a bowl. You just need all purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, milk, and egg. Then you drizzle the batter into hot oil and cook them up until golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel for a couple minutes before assembling.
Make The Apple Pie Filling
So start with a funnel cake on a plate. Then it’s time to add some powdered sugar. Sprinkle to cover the top with the powder. Next is the apple pie filling.
Now, you can buy store-bought, but I love making my own. You can find my apple topping recipe here. It uses granny smith apples, brown sugar, sugar, and some great spices.
Next I go for a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, but cinnamon ice cream would be amazing too!
Make The Crumb Topping
Then you finish with the crumb topping. Mine has oats, butter, cinnamon, and butter.
Sprinkle on as much as you like! Here’s my favorite Crumb Topping recipe. You can use this recipe on top of your pies and fruit crisps, but the mixture is also great baked up on parchment paper and sprinkled on top of ice cream, like I did here.
