Reflection of Autumn

I have a mirror hanging in my living/dining room.  I picked this mirror up at a garage sale for $5.  It was a hideous brassy gold… nothing that a can of glossy black spray paint can’t fix though, right?

The wall looked very stark to me though.  A few weeks ago Jenn over at Beauty & Bedlam wrote about Accessorizing a Mirror.   She referenced The Nester’s blog post of a bathroom mirror she enhanced with a wreath and she showcased many other beautiful pictures of wreaths adorning mirrors – Just lovely!

So yesterday I suddenly remembered an old wreath that was sitting in my fall decor buckets.  I didn’t pull it out when we decorated a month plus ago because honestly, I hate it now.  I got it over ten years ago when I was really into an apple theme… see…

So suddenly I had the inspiration to try and rip everything off and get down to just the grapevine wreath.  It took wire cutters and literally like 2 minutes to have it all bare.  Why didn’t I think of this before??

My mom had given me a package of Spanish moss, so I got out my trusty hot glue gun and went to town.

It’s such a simple project…. glue, press, glue, press, glue, press… you get the idea – Till it looked like this.

A little black sheer ribbon to hang the wreath and a thumb-tack to attach the ribbon to the back and TA-DA…

Don’t you just love those candle sconces?

I got those at the Pottery Barn Outlet for $7 each… love it!

The far wall in this room has my favorite buffet that I showed off here. Here’s the picture I promised with some pretties.  Isn’t that little pumpkin so cute.  My daughter decorated in preschool yesterday and wanted to display it there.

I’m sure you noticed that BIG empty space above the buffet?  I’m working on an art project for that space, so stay-tuned!

Edited:  I’m linking this up to Between Naps On The Porch’s Metamorphosis Monday… Yea!

I am so jealous every time you mention the Pottery Barn Outlet! We are in the SD area, and we don't have one. My in-laws have one by them in Virginia, and it is such a bummer to not have one close by. You get the beauty of CA AND a Pottery Barn Outlet. Lucky You!!

oohh, I love how this wreath turned out! So rustic and pretty. I have a huge bag of moss sitting in my closet, maybe I'll tackle a project like this one. :)
