Pulled Pork Taco Recipe

This Pulled Pork Taco Recipe is one of my favorite crockpot recipes! After cooking the FARMER JOHN® California Natural® Bone-In Pork Shoulder Butt Roast low and slow I give it a little crisping under the broiler to get that carnitas taste. Piled inside a toasted MISSION® Super Soft Flour Tortilla, topped with cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro and finished with TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce makes for a dinner my family loves. These tacos would go great with my Super Charged Chicken Enchilada Dip or my Creamy White Chicken Enchiladas.
Pulled Pork Taco Recipe
With school back in session, I’m definitely using my crockpot more. I love the convenience of starting dinner just after I drop the kiddos off at school and not having to worry about it again until dinnertime. I love this recipe because it’s the dinner that keeps on giving. I’ve got a husband and three teenagers and I can make a second meal with the leftover pulled pork from this recipe. One great leftover option is a quesadilla. That’s my go-to with leftover meats and chicken.
I found all I needed for this fabulous recipe at my local Smart & Final.
I grabbed a FARMER JOHN bone-in shoulder butt roast, MISSION flour tortillas in the soft taco size, TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce (which my husband LOVES), a couple limes, a small cabbage, a sweet onion, Roma tomatoes and cilantro.
After 8-10 hours on low in the crockpot, you’ll have this glorious site and your house smells amazing!
Ok, let’s get to this great Pulled Pork Taco Recipe.
- 3-4 lb FARMER JOHN California Natural Bone-In Pork Shoulder Butt Roast
- 1 onion (I love using a sweet onion)
- 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of cumin
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of pepper
- 3/4 cup of orange juice
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 15-20 shakes of TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce
- MISSION Super Soft Flour Tortillas in soft taco size
- 2 limes
- 1 head of cabbage
- 2 Roma tomatoes
- cilantro
Step 1:
Slice your onion into 1 inch rings and place the rings on the bottom of your slow cooker. Place the FARMER JOHN roast on top of the onions.
Step 2:
Pour the orange juice and lime juice on top of the roast.
Step 3:
Sprinkle the top of the roast with minced garlic, cumin, salt, pepper and TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce.
Step 4:
Place crockpot on low for 8-10 hours. Mine was a 3.5 lb roast and took 9 hours.
Step 5:
Once the roast is finished and easy to pull apart, I like to shred the pork and place it on a cookie sheet. I spoon a few tablespoons of the liquid from the slow cooker on top of the pulled pork. Then I place the pork under the broiler for a couple minutes just to crisp it up a bit. Keep an eye on it because once it starts to brown it happens quick.
Step 6:
Prep your toppings. Chop up your limes, cabbage, tomatoes and cilantro.
Serve and enjoy! My family members who like it hot sprinkled the TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce on top of their tacos for a little extra kick.
These tacos are so full of flavor and with the crunchy cabbage, sweet onions, juicy tomatoes and the fresh cilantro it’s a weeknight dinner winner!
