Happy Monday Friends! Hope your weekend was wonderful. Today I’ve got my favorite… have almost every morning… breakfast smoothie.
This smoothie is yummy and packed with healthy goodness.
Here’s the run-down…
As with most smoothies… this is a “you don’t have to be exact” recipes… adjust based on your likes of flavors and thickness.
For my single glass I start by adding to my blender:
about 8 ice cubes
1/2 frozen banana (I like to freeze them in 1” chunks)
1 & 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 tbsp. all natural peanut butter
1/2 tbsp. all natural almond butter
a sprinkle of cinnamon
Dump all the ingredients in the blender.
If you have an ice crusher setting use that first to help break up the ice and frozen banana. I pulse it on ice crusher for about 10 seconds. Then I let it whirl on high for about another 10 seconds. (Obviously times will vary based on your blender).
Cinnamon is a great thing to have first thing in the morning. It helps regulate your blood sugar levels and increases your metabolism. There are some great articles here and here if you want to read more.
Almond butter is packed with protein, omega – 3 fatty acids and biotin (great for your hair and nails).
Peanut butter has even more protein, fiber and lots of studies have shown that it can lower your risk of coronary heart disease.
Bananas have fiber and loads of potassium that aid in lower blood pressure and bone health.
Lots of healthy goodness to start your day and it tastes yummy! This smoothie is filling too. It will keep me full till lunchtime.
If you want even more protein you could add a scoop of whey protein powder or for some added fiber at times I’ll add a tbsp. of oat bran (which adds even more texture).
Thanks for stopping by friends!
Hope you have a wonderful week…

Love almond butter and milk. Your breakfast smoothie looks delicious.
Maryann, This is such a yummy and good-for-you way to start the day! Smoothies are one of my go-to breakfasts too! I just don’t think to use almond milk… and it must taste so delicious in your smoothie! I am putting this on my grocery list for the week.
This smoothie may be very good for us, but all I can see how delicious it is!!!!
Please join me with this great morning recipe at ON THE MENU MONDAY going on now. YUMMY!
Yes… the almond milk is nutty yumminess and the unsweetened almond milk has only 40 calories per cup!
Sounds fabulous! Never thought of doing cinnamon. I’m going to try it! I’m pregnant so smoothies are a good option when I want something sweet.
looks yummy! I’m going to give this a try tomorrow minus the almond milk, plus vanilla soy milk (since that’s what’s in the fridge at the moment). I hope it’s just as delicious. Thanks for sharing!
