M&M Peanut Butter Bar Cookie Ingredients

  • butter
  • creamy peanut butter
  • granulated sugar
  • brown sugar
  • large eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • all purpose flour
  • red and green M & M candies

Making Peanut Butter M&M Cookie Bars

Start by creaming the unsalted butter and peanut butter together. Add either light brown sugar or dark brown sugar and the granulated sugar. I like to cream it together in a bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, but a hand mixer will work too.

Then add the eggs and vanilla and stir.

Then I put together the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, baking powder, and salt.

Add the dry ingredients to the mixer and mix together on low speed until combined.

Then I add in the M&M candies and mix them together with a spatula until the mixture is evenly mixed together.

Use butter or cooking spray in a baking pan and then add the cookie dough batter to the pan. Cook until golden brown.

  1. 1 star
A little disappointed. I was surprised when I took it out of the oven and it looked more like a cake, looked nice and light brown though. But after cooling for 10 mins I realized it was completely raw on the inside. Baked it a little longer but still raw and deflated. Was I supposed to use baking soda rather than baking powder? Trying to figure out where I went wrong. Also the recipe forgot to include the step where you add the vanilla. I added it after the eggs. The bars taste good but it was not what I was expecting.

  2. Yum! Chocolate and peanut butter is one of my favorite combinations! I will definitely be making these bars and including them in my annual holiday cookie exchange.

  3. These look so delicious! I know my kids would love these M&M cookies. And I so agree with you that making multiple batches of cookies gets really old really quick:)

  4. I love bar cookies too Maryann! I agree that they’re easier and less labor intensive. But I especially love the soft and chewy texture. We love peanut butter at our house, so these will be added to the must bake list! Thanks for hosting Cookie Week! It’s a pleasure to be joining you all!

  8. I am a huge fan of bar cookies because they save so much time when baking and I can choose how big or small I want the cookie size to be. I love peanut butter anything and this bar cookie is one that I know will be a hit at my house. At Christmas my neighborhood tradition is to make cookie plates to take to each other. This peanut butter bar cookie will be perfect for this year’s cookie plates.
