Prepare Your Pizza Dough

One of the great things about this recipe is that you can make it so simple with all store-bought items, or you can make it completely from scratch.

rolled out pizza dough

We used refrigerated pizza crust in the can for this recipe, but my favorite homemade pizza dough recipe would be delicious in this! You want to roll out the dough into a rectangle shape.

Can I use pizza dough straight from the fridge?

If you are using canned pizza dough you can use it straight from the fridge. If you buy the bag of pizza dough that you can find in the deli section of some grocery stores, I would recommend letting it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before rolling it out to a rectangular shape.

Adding the Toppings

Then you want to spread a thin layer of your favorite bbq sauce on top of the dough, leaving about 1/2″ around the edges without the sauce. If your bbq sauce is super thick you can always put some in a microwave safe bowl and heat it for 20 seconds to loosen it up.

Then add your cook, shredded chicken. Once again you can use what you like. Rotisserie chicken works great for this. Any of your own chicken leftovers you have is wonderful too.

Roll the dough along the long edge until it’s all rolled up. Pinch the dough together along the long side seam to help it stay closed.

Then slice your log shape into 2 inch pieces and place on a baking sheet with cooking spray to help prevent sticking.

Then bake in the oven until golden brown and serve hot. Leftovers can be stored in plastic wrap or an airtight container for up to 5 days.
