You’re home smells amazing when you are baking this apple bread recipe! I think that’s one of my favorite parts of fall baking is the amazing way your home smells and the kids love coming home to the scent of apples and cinnamon.
What apples are best for breads?
I used a can of apple pie filling for this recipe. Apple pie filling is typically made with granny smith apples, and mine was. You want a firm and slightly tart apple for most baking recipes. Super sweet apples can not hold up to the baking process without turning into mush. The bit of tartness with a Granny apple compliments all the spices and sweetness that comes with this cinnamon apple bread. Other great options if you want to make your own would be using braeburn or honey crisp apples. They both are a little sweeter than a Granny Smith apple, but are still firm enough to bake with. You can find my homemade apple pie filling recipe here.
How to Make Apple Bread
I used a stand mixer with a paddle attachment to make my apple cinnamon bread recipe. You start by creaming your butter and sugars together.
Then you’ll add your egg and mix that in well.
Add the vanilla extract and the apple pie filling to the mixture.
In a separate large mixing bowl you’ll combine your dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Whisk the dry ingredients together before adding them to the mixer.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the mixer and mix on slow until it’s combined evenly.
Pour the batter into a prepared pan and bake.
Easy Apple Cinnamon Bread
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 can apple pie filling
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350. Spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cream your butter and sugars in a bowl with a mixer. Cream until smooth, 2-3 minutes.
- Add your egg, mix until combined.
- Add the vanilla and apple pie filling. Mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture until combined.
- Pour the bread batter into your sprayed 9 inch loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes. You can check if it's done by inserting a toothpick into the center and see if it comes out with only a few crumbs on it.
- I will run a butter knife around the edges after 30 minutes, then place on a cooling rack. Let it come to room temperature before slicing and enjoying this delicious bread!
Notes
I finished my loaf off with a simple icing. In a small bowl just stir together 1/4 cup of confectioner sugar and 1 teaspoon of water. Just drizzle the icing on top of the bread, if you want. It’s so good without it too. The glaze just adds a little something more to the top. You could also sprinkle a cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the batter before baking if you want a crisp top to your bread.
Oh and it’s super easy too and so moist… it’s perfect for breakfast, snack, dessert or anytime!
I hope you and your family have a chance to enjoy this seasonal apple cinnamon bread during this fall season! The moment you slice into this bread and taste the flavor I think it will be a family favorite too.
